Privacy Policy
1. Data Controller
The operator of this BotScope instance is responsible for the processing of personal data within the meaning of the GDPR. Contact details can be found in the imprint.
2. What Data We Process
BotScope processes server log files (Nginx / Apache) exclusively. The following log data is processed:
- IP addresses — used solely to identify bot crawlers; human site visitors are neither evaluated nor stored.
- Request paths, HTTP methods, status codes, file sizes, user-agent strings — only from automated bots, not from end users.
- Timestamps of the requests.
3. No Processing of End-User Data
BotScope does not collect, store or process any personal data of human website visitors. The tool analyses only the technical behaviour of automated crawlers and bots.
4. Legal Basis
Processing is carried out on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest) — the legitimate interest being the protection of the website against abusive bot traffic and the optimisation of crawl budgets for search engine indexing.
5. Data Retention
Uploaded log files and derived analysis results are stored only as long as the user account is active or until the user deletes the session. Log files are stored encrypted on the server.
6. Data Transfers
Log data is not transferred to third parties. All data remains on the server infrastructure you operate or have contracted.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection (Arts. 15–21 GDPR). To exercise these rights, please contact the operator named in the imprint.
8. Right to Lodge a Complaint
You have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In Germany the competent authority is the data protection supervisory authority of the federal state in which the controller is established.
